LAFCO Policies

Santa Clara LAFCO has adopted individual policies and procedures over the years as necessary and as required by State Law. These policies are intended to supplement State Law and reflect the unique circumstances and conditions in Santa Clara County.

For ease of reference, the policies are divided into (1) Policies and Procedures for reviewing and processing applications and (2) Administrative Policies.

Comprehensive Review and Update of LAFCO Policies

Phase 2 - Currently underway

Phase 1 - On December 4, 2024, the Commission completed Phase 1 of its Comprehensive Review and Update of LAFCO Policies (Chapters 1 through 8).

Did You Know?

LAFCO’s governing statute, the Cortese-Knox-Hertzberg Local Government Reorganization Act of 2000 (Government Code Section 56000 et seq.) requires that each LAFCO adopt written policies and procedures.
